In a standard AIA agreement, such as B101–2017, "basic services" are categorized into five continuous architectural and administrative phases. These five phases are considered the meat and potatoes of services by architects. I disagree. These phases assume that a building is the answer to the solution, and follows several decisions that are made without their input. And they stop at the birth of the building, and rarely take into account the life of a building and the end users. I don't provide "basic services;" you can throw a rock and hit an architect who provides these.
